The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says three people were hit by a vehicle on Starratt Road Tuesday after they were all involved in an altercation prior to collision.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Editor's note: This story has been updated to include the name of the victim.

One man is dead and two others were hospitalized Tuesday morning after all three people were struck by a vehicle on Jacksonville's Northside following an "altercation," according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The deceased victim has been identified as 35-year-old Jeffrey Allmon.

The two who were injured have been identified as a 29-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman.

JSO's Sergeant Hungerford says at approximately 1:24 a.m. in the 2000 block of Starratt Road, two men and one woman were involved in the altercation that ended in the road. Hungerford says a two-door Chevrolet was traveling eastbound on Starratt Road and struck all three individuals.

Police say when first responders with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department arrived, one of the men, identified as being in his mid-30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. JSO says the other man and woman were taken to a local hospital with "serious non-life-threatening injuries."

Hungerford says the driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene and is cooperating with detectives while an investigation is ongoing. The driver was not involved in the dispute prior to the collision and there are no signs that they were impaired, according to Hungerford.
