School bus shooting suspect arrested in Ga.

The teen suspect believed to be responsible for a school bus shooting last week that injured two students was arrested Thursday in Georgia, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says.
Edgar Robles, 16, is wanted on charges of attempted murder and shooting deadly missiles, both felonies, in connection to the shooting that sent two girls to the hospital with head and face injuries.

ID=27374827JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The teen suspect believed to be responsible for a school bus shooting last week that injured two students on the Westside was involved in a separate shooting incident prior to being taken into custody Thursday in Georgia.

16-year-old Edgar Robles suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg Wednesday night before he was arrested in Liberty County, Ga.

According to Chief Deputy Jon Long with the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office alerted LCSO that they believed Robles was in the area on Tuesday. Long says the LCSO received a tip Thursday night regarding the location where Robles was hiding out and officers set up surveillance. When Robles left the area, officers performed a traffic stop, which is when they noticed the wound on his leg. He was arrested without incident.

Robles was treated at Liberty Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and his family was notified. After he was released, he was taken into custody of the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice. Officials say the Liberty County Juvenile Court will handle extradition proceedings.

JSO sent out a notice Thursday night informing media that Robles was taken into custody in Liberty County, Georgia.

Robles was wanted on charges of attempted murder and shooting deadly missiles, both felonies, in connection to the shooting that sent two girls to the hospital with head and face injuries.

JSO says Robles was tracking the bus along its route, with the help of two associates, because he wanted to "settle a beef" with someone on board. But what was supposed to be a fight took a drastic turn when Robles approached the bus at a stop near Ringhaver Park carrying a gun about 4 p.m., witnesses told investigators.

Ayana Sherman and Shakayla Singleton, both 16, were injured when Robles opened fire.
