RISE Doro apartment building should be demolished in 8-10 weeks, company says

The focus for the building in Downtown will now be on debris removal, then demolition and rebuilding.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The RISE Doro building should be demolished in the next 8-10 weeks, barring any delays, according to a press release from the RISE company. After the catastrophic fire that ripped through the building Sunday night, the entire frame has to come down.

The demolition is expected to cost $1 million and will be paid for by the building's owners.

The city's structural engineers have decided that the concrete parking garage is structurally sound and will not need to be torn down.

According to the press release, RISE's focus has now turned to removing debris, demolishing the building and then rebuilding.

Fencing has been established around the site of the fire to keep people away from danger.

The press release also says that the State Fire Marshal has not yet released the building to the owners as they finish their investigation. Once they do release the building, the demolition process can begin.

They will be providing updates at their website, which can be found here
