Woman dies after fire in Jacksonville's Chimney Lakes area

The Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department responded after 8 a.m. Friday to a residential fire that left a person dead.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville has confirmed a woman has died in a housefire in Jacksonville's Chimney Lakes neighborhood near Oakleaf.

The fire occurred at 8984 Camshire Drive, in a neighborhood between Interstate-295 West and Cecil Commerce Center Parkway. Initial reports said first responders pulled one person from the fire and they were transported with critical injuries. 

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a trooper was dispatched at 8:19 a.m. to assist the investigation.

The victim was in her 60s and the only person in the home, JFRD said. Emergency personnel said the fire was small in nature and little and was put out quickly, but the smoke was prevalent throughout the home.
