Police say the motorcyclist is a man in his early-20s.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a concrete utility pole on San Jose Boulevard just after 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO's Sergeant Hungerford says the motorcyclist, a man in his early-20s, was northbound in the 9500 block of San Jose Boulevard when he "failed to negotiate the curve," went off the northeast side of the roadway, and crashed into the pole.

Hungerford tells First Coast News that the man was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

This crash is the 55th fatality in Duval County this year and the 7th involving a motorcyclist, according to JSO.
