ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A man died after being hit while riding a bike on State Road A1A, south of Mikler Road in St. Johns County Saturday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The 47-year-old unidentified man from Miami, was riding his bike within the southbound travel lane on A1A at 9:35 p.m., when a 26-year-old unidentified man driving a van, struck the bicyclist while traveling south on A1A, the FHP crash report reveals.
The report further details that the right front side of the van, hit the Miami man, causing him to become separated from the bike. FHP says the van came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder of A1A southbound, while the bicyclist came to final rest within the wood line on the right side of A1A southbound.
