Judge bans parties, weddings at private San Marco estate following complaints

A judge signed a temporary injunction against the Tuscan River Estate, LLC to prevent the San Marco home from being used as an event venue. The injunction comes after several complaints about the noise and traffic in the area.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A judge signed a temporary injunction against the Tuscan River Estate, LLC to prevent the San Marco home from being used as an event venue. The injunction comes after several complaints about the noise and traffic in the area.

Marie Wood and her husband Bill moved into the neighborhood on Kelnepa Drive more than 30 years ago.

“For the peace, for the little tiny street,” Marie Wood said.

They say about two years ago, they noticed something changed. She said she noticed “lots of traffic, but that wasn't all.

“The attitude of the people in the cars, and the really ugly remarks, tearing up their shrubbery and running over their yards," she said.

After an online search, they found out the property at the end of their once quiet street had been turned into an event venue.

“We were floored,” she said.

And it explained all the activity she and other neighbors were noticing.

“Party, after another, after another, and it was you know on this little street and it can’t handle it,” she said.

On Friday, First Coast News learned that a judge signed a temporary injunction that prevents Tuscan River Estate, LLC from operating the San Marco home as an event venue until they go to trial. At this time, no trial date has been set.

“It’s not legal and it’s not right,” she said.

We reached out to the property owner, Michael Johnigean for comment, but he failed to return any of our phone calls or emails.

Neighbors said his silence will not stop them.

“We’ll do whatever we need to do to get this to stop,” Wood said.

Despite the injunction, the judge allowed for two final events to take place because they were booked prior. In fact, there is a wedding taking place Saturday.
