ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — It's an unfortunate sense of deja vu for residents of the Davis Shores community in St. Augustine. Homes in the neighborhood suffered millions of dollars in damage during Hurricane Matthew in 2016 and took another hit during Hurricane Irma in 2017. Now Hurricane Dorian has brought flood waters back.
Streets throughout the community are flooded close to Quarry Creek and Coquina Avenue is completed flooded. Water started coming into the streets an hour and half before high tide on Wednesday afternoon.
First Coast News reporter Jessica Clark is in the area now. She says it is hard to tell at this hour if water has gotten into homes as of yet, but dozens of yards are completely flooded.
Police have blocked flooded roads to keep cars away.
Davis Shores is in an evacuation zone and Jessica reports that while most residents did heed warning, some decided to stay back because they were not as worried.
