JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — UPDATE: One dead, 2 in critical condition after shooting in busy Jacksonville Beach bar district
Police are responding to an active shooter in Jacksonville Beach that has resulted in three people shot and taken to the hospital, according to responding agencies.
Jacksonville Beach Police Department spokeswoman Tonya Tator urged residents to stay away from the scene and described the incident around 8:30 p.m. as an "active shooter event." Tator said three people have been shot.
The suspects are at large, she said.
The Jacksonville Beach Police Department said Sunday it is securing the scene. Cameras showed a heavy police presence near the 2nd Avenue beach access and 1st Street.
JBPD confirmed the one death and two victims in critical condition.
