LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. —Deputies are searching for a boy who was dragged into the water by an alligator near Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
The child, who is about 2 years old, officials say, was dragged into the Seven Seas Lagoon about 9:30 p.m., Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Rose Silva said.
Deputies say the boy was wading in the water when he was dragged in. The Orange County Sheriff says the boy's father tried to reach his son, but was unsuccessful. At that point, he called out to the lifeguard for help.
Deputies are searching the waters and put crime-scene tape around the water, WESH 2 News has learned.
The Sheriff says the boy's family is from Nebraska, and they arrived in Orlando on Sunday.
