Rescue team wrangles fast-moving, unoccupied boat in Vilano Inlet

Crews corralled an unoccupied, fast-moving boat in the Vilano Inlet after the owner was tossed while fishing.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A fisherman fell out of his boat while fishing Tuesday morning in the Vilano Inlet leaving his vessel unoccupied and moving at a high rate of speed. Rescue teams were called to the area and attempted to corral the boat as it circled through the sea.

"The occupant of the vessel was accidentally thrown overboard while fishing in the inlet and a passing boat assisted them out of the water," St. Johns County Fire Rescue stated in a post on Facebook. "No injuries were reported to the occupant. These agencies worked to together using various techniques to gain control of the vessel and safely bring it to shore on Vilano Beach without any injuries."
