Exclusive: One-on-one with Corrine Brown

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Florida Congresswoman Corrine Brown sat down Thursday for an exclusive in person interview just days after filing a motion with the Supreme Court regarding her congressional district.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Florida Congresswoman Corrine Brown sat down Thursday for an exclusive in person interview just days after filing a motion with the Supreme Court regarding her congressional district.

"My story speaks for itself; the work I've done speaks for itself," Brown said in response to question about her thoughts on her redistricting fight.

For month she's been fighting the redistricting for months and has now taken her plea to the highest court in the land. Her new district would extend from Jacksonville at its easternmost point to the panhandle. Her old district went north-to-south from Jacksonville to Orlando.

Courts have said her old district was gerrymandered; Brown has said that it was to give minorities a voice in Congress.

“The idea that African Americans in Sanford and Etonville won’t have anyone to represent them and I have represented them and Gainesville, god, I have represented them for over 23 years, they wont have representation," Brown said.

Brown has also been in the news numerous times recently for her ties to a bogus charity. The woman who headed a Virginia charity tied to Congresswoman Brown’s legal problems made an appearance at the Federal Courthouse in Jacksonville Wednesday.

Wiley was the Executive director of One Door for Education, a dubious charity to which the congresswoman has steered tens of thousands of dollars. Wiley pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and testified (attested to) the involvement of a “Person A” -- believed to be Congresswoman Brown.

Brown says her lawyers advised her not to comment, but did say she's got a target on her back. “It is no question about [why], because I have been targeted," Brown continued.

When asked who was targeting her, she was cryptic.

"Well, it is people out there, I don’t want to say the boogie man, but who do you think?”
