The Coast Guard has called off the search for a missing boater after the owner of the boat was found on land Friday.
The owner was never on the boat, the Coast Guard said. The boat broke free from a pier on the St. Johns River last night and the incident is being considered an accident.
The Coast Guard will not charge the boat owner for the search.
The money for the search comes out of the Coast Guard's operational budget, which takes into account false alert searches.
