CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A 19-year-old Green Cove Springs man is in serious condition after he was hit by a school bus with no students aboard early Thursday morning, a Florida Highway Patrol report said.

The crash occurred at 5:39 a.m. near the intersection of County Road 220 and Henley Road, troopers said.

The bus approached the intersection heading south while the man was traveling east on the sidewalk and "ran out" into the southbound lane of Henley Road and collided with the passenger side mirror of the bus, the report said.

The man was taken to a local hospital. The bus had two adults on board who did not sustain injuries the report said.

This crash comes a day after a school bus with 21 children aboard crashed at 8:49 a.m. in Clay County Wednesday morning near Heritage Farms Boulevard and County Road 220. One student reported minor injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the bus tried to go around and ended up hitting an SUV in a gas station parking lot.
