Boil water advisory in effect for a dozen Neptune Beach homes after water main break

NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. โ€” A boil water advisory will be in effect for a dozen Neptune Beach homes after a water main break on Tuesday morning.

The City of Neptune Beach said on social media that crews were working to address a water main break in the 600 block of Oak Street in Bal Harbor.

While the water supply was restored, the city is asking residents at the addresses within zones 570,600, 601, 616, 617, 632, 633, 700, 701, 716, 717 and 806 Oak Street to boil their water for a few days.

Homes at 803 and 730 on the corner of Oak Street and Lincoln Road were not affected by the water main break, and will not need to boil water.

The city is placing red door hangers on the front doors of the affected homes so residents are made aware.

The boil water advisory is a safety measure while crews conduct bacteria tests on the water, the city said.

Residents should boil any water used for drinking and consuming for at least one minute.

The city said any residents who recently underwent surgery, are immunocompromised or have a chronic illness are encouraged to use bottled water.

Tap water can be used for washing hands, as long as the water is not ingested.

When all tests are complete, residents will receive a blue notice on their front doors as an "all clear".
