A Jacksonville sheriff's deputy has died in an accident off of Interstate 295 and Atla Drive.
Sheriff Mike Williams said the officer was responding to another accident on I-295 around 4:30 a.m. when he got into an accident himself. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
"It's a sad day for JSO and the city," said Williams.
JSO has not yet identified the officer.
