Official: No riot reported at Hamilton Correctional Facility

Michelle Glady, the Director of Communications for the Florida Department of Corrections, said that there were about 100 inmates on the recreation field when a number of inmates began acting out and became noncompliant.

Officers from around the North Florida area were asked to assist with an incident at the Hamilton County Correctional Facility on Friday afternoon.

The Florida Department of Corrections said the incident was not a riot. Michelle Glady, director of corrections spokeswoman, said there were about 100 inmates on the recreation field when a number of inmates began "acting out and became noncompliant."

Officers swiftly controlled the situation.

Glady said Law enforcement from other agencies responded as a precaution to help secure the perimeter.

Glady said no staff or inmates were injured.
