JSO: Two people hospitalized after two separate Jacksonville shootings happened within 30 minutes

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the first shooting injured a man in his early-20s, while the other shooting injured a woman in her 50s.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two people were hospitalized after two separate Jacksonville shootings happened within 30 minutes of each other Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Here's what police say happened in each of them.

Trout River Pier shooting

Just after midnight, JSO's Sergeant Karen Dukes says a man was fishing alone at the Trout River Pier when he "got into what appeared to be a dispute with an unknown suspect."

Dukes tells First Coast News that the man identified as Aziz Ouattara, 25, according to the incident report, was taken to a local hospital, as he is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries after suffering a gunshot wound to his inner thigh.

Ouattara told police multiple vehicles were parked at the pier and that he took pictures of vehicles' tags as the suspect was fleeing the scene, the incident report states.

"It is early in the investigation and we are working through interviews and evidence to identify the suspect," Dukes said.

JSO says "numerous units" were on scene to set up a perimeter for the suspect which yielded negative results and detectives were on scene interviewing witnesses and gathering information.

Woman found shot at Jacksonville Fire Rescue Station

JSO's Sergeant Dukes says at approximately 12:30 a.m., the sheriff's office was notified of a woman that had been shot and was seeking help at Jacksonville Fire Rescue Station No. 10, located at 1055 McDuff Ave. South.

When officers arrived, Dukes says they found the woman in her 50s lying on the ground, suffering from a gunshot wound to her abdomen.

"Immediate medical help was given and the victim was rushed to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition," Dukes said.

Police say it is possible the woman was shot at a different location and was dropped off at the fire station.

Crime scene detectives were on scene "collecting and preserving evidence," while violent crimes detectives were on scene "conducting interviews and reviewing video surveillance," according to Dukes.

Police did not release the identity of the woman shot.

JSO says the shootings do not appear to be connected to each other at this time. If anyone has information on either, you're encouraged to provide it by calling JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
