6 shootings in 2 days makes for violent post-holiday weekend in Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating after seven people were injured across six shootings Saturday and Sunday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office investigated half a dozen shootings over the course of two days following Thanksgiving weekend.

Saturday 2:00 a.m. Herlong Road:

Jacksonville’s Thanksgiving weekend violence started early Saturday when police said a suspect walked up to a car on Herlong Road, shot someone inside it once in the neck, and ran. The victim was taken to the hospital in non-life threatening condition.

Saturday 4:00 a.m. Weare Street:

Two hours later, police say a person was shot in the leg while walking along Weare Street. The Sheriff’s Office believes it has everyone involved in custody from this shooting.

Saturday 5:00 a.m. Beach Boulevard:

An hour after that, police say a person was shot in the leg while walking on Beach Boulevard. The car and suspect drove away.

Saturday 2:00 p.m. Westmar Road:

Police say a person was shot in the abdomen during an argument outside a house on Westmar Road. The gunshot was non-life threatening and the suspect ran away.

Sunday 12:40 a.m. Kings Park Drive:

Just after midnight Sunday, a 17-year-old girl was shot in the leg on Kings Park Drive. The initial investigation revealed the shooting stemmed from a "loud argument" that took place moments before gunfire erupted, according to police. No additional suspect information was given.

Sunday 2:15 p.m. Mississippi Court:

Police found a victim on Mississippi Court who was shot in the face and learned another victim ran a block down the street after getting hit in the neck. The first victim underwent emergency surgery and is in life-threatening condition while the second is in non-life threatening condition. Police didn’t have a description of the suspect.
