2 men stabbed, shot in Downtown Jacksonville

JSO said the shooting happened in the 600 block of Union Street East.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two men are suffering from life-threatening injuries after they were shot and stabbed in Downtown Jacksonville Thursday night, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

JSO said they were called out to the 600 block of Union Street East around 5:40 p.m. in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man in the street and another man near the front door of a building. Police said both men were suffering from both stab and gunshot wounds.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department transported both of them to the hospital where they underwent surgery.

Upon investigating, JSO said they believe there was an altercation between the men that led up to the incident. Police said they do not know what the altercation was about or what led to it.

JSO is now canvassing the area for video or evidence.

This is the second shooting reported in Jacksonville Thursday night. The first happened in the Woodstock area and resulted in a juvenile shot. He is expected to be ok.
