Police: Man found shot dead in front of Walgreens in Jacksonville, suspect turned himself in

Sameer Jamal Ramesar, 21, is charged with second-degree murder. Police say he walked up to an officer after they arrived, while a perimeter was being set.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was shot dead in front of a Jacksonville Walgreens Wednesday night, as police say the suspect turned himself in after he "walked up to an officer" while a perimeter was being established, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Sameer Jamal Ramesar, 21, is charged with second-degree murder. He is accused of killing James C. Bolden III, 24.

Police say at around 8 p.m., officers responded to the Walgreens located at 5990 Townsend Rd. in reference to a shooting. JSO's Sergeant Catir says when officers arrived, Bolden was found lying on the ground with "multiple gunshot wounds."

Catir says first responders with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then arrived on scene and pronounced Bolden dead.

JSO says Ramesar was arrested after detectives spoke with several witnesses, reviewed video surveillance footage, talked with him, and consulted with the State Attorney's Office.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, JSO says, and anyone with information is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
