A Florida man was given a citation Wednesday after police say he caught three small lobsters. Upper Keys Marine Deputy Nelson Sanchez said he spotted an aluminum boat and some divers in Everglades National Park just before 4 p.m. One of the divers was holding a spear.
The deputy ordered the men to board their boat and asked if they had "any catch," police said. Sanchez then spotted three lobsters that were "obviously undersized," police said. The deputy safely returned the lobsters to the water and a citation was given to one of the divers.
The harvest of lobster is prohibited in Everglades National Park as well as John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and in the Biscayne Bay/Card Sound Lobster Sanctuary, police said.
