Sheriff: JSO officer arrested for running license plates of cars parked near ex-girlfriend's apartment

Office Allen Lesage was arrested on one count of offenses against computer users after Waters says he used a DHSMV database to find out this information.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville Sheriff's officer was arrested after he used a Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles database for "personal reasons," Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters announced Thursday.

Office Allen Lesage was arrested on one count of offenses against computer users, which is a third-degree felony.

Waters said that on Monday, an audit by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office internal affairs unit found Lesage was using the database to run license plates. The license plates belonged to 15 cars that were parked at his ex-girlfriend's apartment complex.

"I think he was trying to find out something about the ex-girlfriend, or someone at the ex-girlfriend's place," Waters said.

Lesage has resigned as of Thursday. He had worked with JSO for six years and seven months.

This is the 6th arrest of a JSO officer by the agency in 2024. JSO Officer Josue Garriga was arrested in Clay County in March, and Officer Steven Bryant was arrested in Baker County in February.
