Man found dead in Regency area pond, police say

The circumstances surrounding the drowning are unknown, but police say no foul play is suspected.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was found dead in a pond in the Regency area Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Around 8 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the 200 block of Lee Road in reference to a drowning.

When officers arrived, they found a man in a pond at the rear of a vacant property.

At that time, JSO's dive team and the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene.

The man was recovered and pronounced dead. 

Detectives with JSO's Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to conduct their investigations.

Investigators are working to identify the victim.

Police said while the circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown, no foul play is suspected.

The drowning is classified as a "pending" incident until the Medical Examiner's Office can determine a cause of death.

The incident appears to be isolated and there is no threat to the community, according to JSO.
