KINGSLAND, Ga. — A Glynn County Police Department officer has been arrested in Kingsland.
In an agency press release, GCPD said Zachary Hampel was arrested on disorderly conduct and cruelty to children charges early Sunday morning. Hampel was immediately placed on administrative leave without pay.
The Kingsland Police Department received a call about a disturbance at the Hampel's home, the release said.
GCPD officers responded to Hampel's residence and secured all GCPD issued equipment and property, the agency said. The Office of Professional Standards has been assigned to conduct the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
"Chief Ebner is committed to maintaining the highest standards within the GCPD and wants to assure the people of Glynn County that this incident will be thoroughly investigated," the release stated. "The investigation, which will include interviews with all parties involved and a review of any available evidence, will be completed in an expeditious manner."
