Fernandina Beach man sentenced to prison for 'expletive-laden' voicemail to Supreme Court

Neal Brij Sidhwaney reportedly threatened to kill Chief Justice John G. Roberts. He will serve 14 months in federal prison.

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — A Fernandina Beach man has been sentenced to 14 months in federal prison after he reportedly threatened to kill Chief Justice Justice John G. Roberts, the Department of Justice announced Tuesday.

The indictment charging Neal Brij Sidhwaney, 43, with transmitting an interstate threat to kill did not name Roberts. However, Reuters reported that court records which have now been sealed revealed he was the subject of the threats.

On July 31, Sidhwaney called the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C., from Florida.

He left an "expletive-laden, threatening" voicemall, according to a press release from United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg with the Middle District of Florida. In the call, he made threats to kill Roberts.

Sidhwaney pleaded guilty on Dec. 15, 2023.
