JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- There were new developments Thursday in the case of Ruben Ebron, the man police believe killed toddler Lonzie Barton.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- There were new developments Thursday in the case of Ruben Ebron, the man police believe killed toddler Lonzie Barton.

Ebron's case is set for disposition Friday, which could mean a plea deal that has been in the works will be accepted.

The case against Ebron has been on hold since Jan. 11, the day police discovered a body presumed to be the child's in a wooded lot on Jacksonville's Southside.

That same day, prosecutors and defense attorneys hashed out a plea deal only to have it shelved by Circuit Judge Mark Borello.

Sources tell First Coast News the judge wanted to see the results of the toddler's autopsy before signing off on any deal.

The deal would apparently allow Ebron to plead guilty to aggravated manslaughter with a recommended sentence of 20 years.
