Update: Man accused of fleeing traffic stop, hitting mailbox turns self into Clay County deputies

The Clay County Sheriff's Office said no injuries have been reported.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Update: The man accused of fleeing a traffic stop and crashing into a mailbox in the process has turned himself in, according to Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook. No one was hurt as a result of the crash. 

Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook is asking residents to stay inside their homes Tuesday evening as deputies search for a man accused of fleeing a traffic stop and crashing into a mailbox in the process.

According to an alert on Clay County's SaferWatch app, there is a heavy police presence near 1060 Autumn Pines Drive.

Deputies identified the suspect as Charles Mitchell, 27, who was seen on foot in the area, possibly wearing a gray hoodie, red shirt and light blue pants.

Residents are asked to remain inside while deputies look for Mitchell.
