Police arrest father in Brunswick infant's death from June

The child's father originally said the 5-month-old fell off the bed. Investigations and input from multiple agencies said otherwise, according to police.

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — A Brunswick man was arrested Thursday after the death of his infant son from June 4, the Glynn County Police Department said.

On June 3, 2023, five-month-old Uriel Hudson died after the father, Daniel Hudson, claimed the child fell off the bed at his home on Odyssey Lake Circle. Uriel’s father took the child to the hospital where doctors detected several injuries which Uriel did not survive, police said.

Medical examiners later determined that blunt force trauma to the head caused Uriel’s death, police said. Investigators worked closely with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Medical Examiner’s Office and the Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office to pinpoint the cause and time of death, which led to the arrest of Daniel Hudson on Thursday at Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick.

Hudson was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, first-degree children cruelty, and three counts of murder. He was released to the custody of the Glynn County Sheriff’s Department.

The investigation is ongoing. Any person with additional knowledge of this incident is asked to contact GCPD non-emergency at 912-554-3645, or report it anonymously to Silent Witness at 912-264-1333.
