4 suspects arrested in string of dollar store robberies in Jacksonville

Police say when they approached the suspects, one of them raised a weapon at an officer. The officer then fired at the suspect's car.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has made four arrests in a string of robberies at Dollar General stores in the city.

JSO Chief Alan Parker says there have already been three robberies at dollar stores in recent weeks. Another happened at a Dollar General in the 3800 block of North Main Street just after 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers were able to intervene, according to Parker, but four suspects ran off. That's when he says a suspect raised a weapon at an officer.

The officer fired back, but bullets only struck the suspects' car.

No one was hurt. After that, the suspects complied and were all taken into custody.

JSO says because all the suspects were arrested, there is no further threat.

When the investigation concludes, Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters will hold a briefing to disclose all the information available.
