Thousands of runners set to participate in annual 'Carry Forward 5K' race in Jacksonville

On Nov. 4, more than 1,000 runners will gather on Belfort Road in Jacksonville for the 'Carry Forward 5K.'

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Nov. 4, more than 1,000 runners will gather on Belfort Road in Jacksonville for a good cause.

The 'Carry Forward 5K' race acts as a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project and competitors in the race can choose to run the race with a flag, a set of weights or even another person on their back to signify the weight that veterans carry with them every day.

WWP Associate Director of Corporate Partnerships Jessie Carzoli joined Good Morning Jacksonville on Saturday to preview the race.

"Carry Forward is just the most wonderful event," said Carzoli. "The energy there is incredible. The things that set Carry Forward apart [are] several things and I encourage people who have not been out, to come out this year and join us."

Runners can register for the Carry Forward 5K as late as the day of the race! The race will begin at 8 a.m. at the Wounded Warrior Project's headquarters, located at 4899 Belfort Rd.

Money raised in the Carry Forward 5K is used to fund programs to benefit veterans throughout the year. Wounded Warrior Project has programs to help veterans in a variety of factors from adaptive sports, job placement and health & wellness.
