Lee Southwick is a meteorologist for First Coast News.

Lee is thrilled to return home and work for the station she grew up watching.

Lee graduated from Fernandina Beach High School, received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida and acquired her Master of Science from Mississippi State University.

Lee started her broadcast career while still in school at UF where she covered hurricanes Matthew, Irma and Hermine. She then moved to Montgomery, Alabama, and covered countless tropical systems, tornadoes, severe wind events and the occasional winter weather for WSFA. She won a Murrow Award alongside her team for their coverage of a deadly EF-4 tornado. From there, Lee went to WDSU in New Orleans and picked up Emmys for her team’s coverage of Hurricane Ida and an EF-3 tornado. She couldn’t be more excited to now return home and bring her experience to the First Coast.

Lee will continue to work hard to bring you the most pertinent and timely information in times of tropical and severe weather. When the weather is calm, she enjoys watching football and being on or in the water – SCUBA diving and paddle boarding are some of her favorite activities.
