JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jose L. Pumarejo is the head of technology and operations at First Coast News.
Jose grew up in The Bronx, NY. At 21 , Jose joined the Navy, where he became a heavy equipment operator with the Seabees. Jose’s first duty station was Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He then served with NMBC 74 in Gulfport, MS, Kings Bay, GA and finally with NMCB7 Gulfport, MS.
In 2005 Jose made Jacksonville his home. When his career in the Navy ended, Jose went to work with, Comcast. While working full time, Jose also went to college full time, earning a degree in Information Technology. In 2012, Jose started working for First Coast News as a maintenance engineer learning all he could. In 2015, Jose became the Supervisor of Technology. Then in 2018, Jose became the Head of Technology and Operations.
During his off time, he enjoys grilling and spending time with his wife, who he has been married to for 23 years.
