All passengers aboard the plane that skidded from a NAS Jacksonville runway and into the St. Johns River last Friday will be receiving $2,500 each from Miami Air International.
The company sent a letter to all of the passengers on Flight 293 on behalf of the CEO on Monday, May 6 informing them of his "goodwill gesture."
"We understand and appreciate the difficult experience you endured," CEO and President Kurt Kamrad said in the letter. "We hope that you are doing well. Please be confident that the safety and satisfaction of our passengers are our top priorities. As such, we would like to extend a goodwill gesture to all passengers in the amount of $2,500."
There were 142 people on board and about 136 passengers. There were no human deaths reported, but 22 people were injured and two cats and a dog died.
Two cats and one dog did die as a result of the crash. Their bodies were recovered from the water Sunday night.
According to the letter, checked baggage remains in the cargo of the plane. They will be retrieved from the plane once the National Transportation Safety Board gives them authorization.
