General Motors CEO Dan Akerson expects the automaker to soon regain its investment-grade credit rating and rejoin the Standard & Poor's 500 about four years after being removed from the index.

The auto industry cannot find enough software, electrical and chemical engineers to work on today's sophisticated vehicles.

Christina Lovio-George recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Detroit public relations firm she founded in 1982 in a former residence in Midtown. Though modest in size, with just 13 staffers today, the Lovio George firm has represented some of Detroit's most notable organizations, including the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, the M-1 Rail initiative, Cobo Center, The Parade Company, Midtown Detroit, and special events including Super Bowl XL and the Ryder Cup golf tournament.

General Motors has taken a long, winding road from its November 2010 initial public offering, but Friday it closed above the original $33 price for the first time in more than two years.

Chrysler has built 1 million Wranglers at a plant in Toledo that opened in 2006 but faces capacity limits there.
