ALBUQUERQUE, NM -- Strong winds took many hot air balloon pilots by surprise Thursday in New Mexico.
One by one balloons were getting caught. The winds picked up, and the balloons went down.
There were six accidents in six different locations. Some of the balloons were tangled in trees, hitting street lights and even knocking out power.
Tim Evans has been ballooning for aout 23 years, and this is the first time his balloon has ever stopped traffic.
"I was honestly just thinking when we hit the ground and everyone was down and everyone was ok. That's what I was thinking about," he said.
