Your Mouse Clicks Can Raise Money for First Coast Kids

By Grayson KammFirst Coast News

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Surf, surf, surf. A group of First Coast kids says your mouse clicks and web surfing can fund their trip to sing at the world-famous venue.

Nothing gives Morgan Van Dusen a thrill like stepping on stage with the Jacksonville Children's Chorus.

"A whole rush of chills goes through my body, because I'm like, okay, I can do this; I've been practicing for a long time," she said after chorus rehearsal Thursday.

But chorus director Darren Dailey knows that thrill's nothing compared to what's coming in June, when the group's set to perform at New York's Carnegie Hall.

"To be able to take a fourth grader or a fifth grader there to experience that at ten or eleven years old, is just remarkable," Dailey said.

Practice is important, but you can't really get to Carnegie Hall without money, money, money.

More than a quarter of the chorus's kids come from low-income families and a Big Apple trip will cost a bundle.

"One of the ways the Jacksonville Children's Chorus is looking to raise funds is through goodsearch.com," Dailey said.

For each search you make, goodsearch.com gives the charity of your choice one penny.

Dailey sees the donations like the notes in a song.

Each one doesn't mean much by itself -- but put them together, and you have the power to hand Morgan and so many others the chance at a thrill they'll carry the rest of their lives.
