JACKSONVILLE, FL -- From cracked slabs, molded walls, to mysterious rashes, this Fairway Oaks community has seen it all. Homeowner Erecka Johnson wants answers.
"To me I don't feel safe here. I don't, but there's nowhere else for me or my kids to go right now," says Johnson.
Not only are there problems around the house, but Ms. Johnson says she is one of many suffering from a mysterious rash.
As of now it still has not been linked to any one source. Johnson says that's just one of several problems her family has.
"My kids never had headaches the way they have now," says Johnson. "My oldest daughter has nose bleeds now. It's a health concern because we never had them at any other place we lived."
April Charney with Jacksonville Area Legal Aid is gathering information on several of these cases.
"We all need to come to the same table to work to resolve these issues and to get all of the facts out on the table and deal what we need to do to get these folks back on track," says Charney.
As for Ms. Johnson, she endures her situation and waits for a resolution.
"I'm glad and happy that HabiJax approved us and got a lot of families in their first time home, but we shouldn't have these first time problems like this," says Johnson.
The city says they are working with HabiJax to ensure everyone in Fairway Oaks is taken care of. HabiJax says when residents directly report to them, they take care of the problem.
Charney says a meeting is in the works between both the city and HabiJax in the near future.
