JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- A homecoming celebration for the Alhambra took place on Saturday. The nation's longest running dinner theatre kicked off it's new era with a party and outdoor performance.
A new ownership group has purchased the Alhambra. The name has changed slightly. It will now be Alhambra Theatre and Dining.
It will also have a dramatically different look on the inside of the theatre.
Former Miss America, Leanza Cornett, a Jacksonville native and Alhambra veteran helped host the celebration. She said she was happy to hear the theatre will not close. "I'm thrilled. I was really upset and saddened to hear the threat of Alhambra closing it's doors forever; but how exciting that's not going to happen. It's going to be even better. New and improved."
The Alhambra will continue it's holiday tradition with performances of 'A Christmas Carole' beginning December 2nd. Renovations on the building will continue throughout the 2010 season.
