JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Members of the Downtown Council of the Chamber of Commerce painted Jaguar paws on Bay St.

Painting started from Main St. leading to the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.

The Council has done it every year since the Jaguars began playing, but this year it got delayed due to the repaving and restriping of Bay.

The Sheriff's Office Traffic Division preferred they not be painted because it might further confuse drivers downtown because of the new directional signals.

However, the mayor stepped in and asked the chamber to paint the town.

"I got called two weeks ago by the Mayor's office. With the city making a big push to sell Jags tickets, the mayor asked if I could get some teams together to do this. The mayor's office told the cops to let us do it, the mayor got it done," says Jepp Walter with the Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber is chipping in, trying to make a push to help sell Jaguars tickets and keep the team in town.

The Downtown Council hopes the paw prints will help create some excitement about the Jaguars.
