JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The sponsor of the Terry Parker High dance team has been fired after parents complained they have nothing to show for money they contributed for uniforms.
Tameka Lashawn Moultrie, 27, was arrested for grand theft in October.
Parents met with school officials during the first weeks of October saying they contributed several hundred dollars each for their students' uniform and shoes, but that they have yet to see anything.
At the time, police questioned Moultrie who told them she did not use any of the money for personal use.
When officers contacted the uniform company which was supplying the uniforms, they were told the order had been canceled and no money was ever received by the dance team's sponsor.
In police reports, investigators documented $700 that parents claimed was stolen. When reviewing Moultrie's records, investigators say she collected nearly $3,800 from the team. Officers could find no evidence she deposited the money, they said.
Principal Addison Davis says the school will do what's necessary to keep the Parker Passion dance team in place.
District spokesperson Jill Johnson said Moultrie was not working at Terry Parker High where she was a paraprofessional at the time of the arrest.
