JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A Jacksonville firefighter is in the hospital following a fire at an abandoned house in Fort Caroline.
JFRD spokesman Tom Francis says the injuries are not related to the fire. The firefighter has been taken to Baptist Medical Center for treatment.
The fire happened at a vacant home on Fort Caroline Road, near Hartsfield Road.
The crew of a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office helicopter actually spotted the fire from the air.
No word on a cause yet.
The house has been vacant for several years, according to the owner.
