Three Local Schools Tops in the South

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The First Coast is well-represented on a new list ranking schools.

Walletpop.com, a finance site, and neighborhoodscout.com teamed up to compare schools as the new year gets started for students.

Three public schools in Duval County made their top five lists, broken down by region.

Jacksonville Beach Elementary was ranked as the #3 Elementary School in the South.

James Weldon Johnson Middle School also ranked #3.

Stanton College Preparatory ranked #4.

Other schools on the lists were from as far away as Maryland and Kentucky.

The rankings are largely based on schools' No Child Left Behind scores, but the formula is complex.
