Local Weather: Flood Watch inland with rounds of showers and storms expected tonight through Thursday morning

A few storms may turn strong to severe in the Jacksonville area this evening with damaging wind gusts and heavy rain as our main threats.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —

Weather Headlines:

- Rounds of showers and storms are expected through Thursday morning

- North breezes blow in cooler, drier air by Thursday evening

A FLOOD WATCH is in effect for inland portions of the First Coast with about 1 to 3 inches of rain expected and higher, isolated amounts of 4 to 5 inches.

THURSDAY: It'll be a wet morning commute as the cold front makes its final push across the local area. This will lead to sunrise showers blowing across the coastal areas in northeast Florida. A few storms could be strong, but the severe weather threat should be diminishing as activity moves south. Cooler, north breezes clear out our skies by the afternoon and evening.

FRIDAY: Cooler sunshine with our morning starting off in the upper 40s and afternoon ending in the lower 70s.

THIS WEEKEND: Cool, yet comfortable mornings will warrant a sweater at first. However, it'll be classic wrap-and-peel weather with warmer, southwest breezes boosting afternoon temperatures into the lower 80s. Expect plenty of sunshine!
