JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Thousands of AT&T employees across nine states are planning to strike this weekend, including in Jacksonville, Fla.

On Friday night, nearly 200 hundred workers gathered for an emergency meeting to voice their frustrations and concerns at the Communications Workers of America Union Hall in Murray Hill.

Local Union President, Eric Bunke, told First Coast News, employees are fed up with "unfair labor practices." Bunke added that the company is not operating in good faith and customers may be impacted until an agreement is made.

"Customers are going to see delays in new service being installed and they are going to see delays in repairs," Bunke said. "Management will be attempting to do our jobs, there are not very many of them as compared to us. We apologize to the customers in advance for any inconvenience on behalf of the union, but this is a step that we as a district, as a labor union felt that it was necessary to get the company to talk to us at the table in good faith."

Employees will be protesting throughout the southern district, which includes Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama.

A representative with AT&T said the company is baffled over the strike and will continue "working hard" to serve customers.
