JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Lightning is still the talk of the town today as we could see another afternoon with more than 5,000 lightning strikes per hour as storms build between 40 to 50,000 feet.

Storms will reach the beach today with a few storms popping up as early as 2 p.m. from St. Simons to St. Augustine.

The drive home may be tough again as storms shift west.

Today's highs are in the lower-to-mid 90s with a heat index near 105 degrees.

Thursday looks like a similar pattern.

We will be very warm over the weekend, but Friday-Sunday should feature fewer storms as high pressure builds in.

Outside of the no-name storm drenching some of Texas, the tropics remain nice and quiet.
