Roof collapses at Cassat Avenue Dunkin', Baskin-Robbins following strong storms

The business was taped off with police tape, but tile was visible across the parking lot and the collapsed roof was visible through the windows.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — The roof of a Normandy-area donuts and ice cream shop collapsed Tuesday night, after strong storms swept across the area.

The Cassat Avenue Dunkin' and Baskin-Robbins business' collapsed roof could be seen through the glass windows of the building, with tiles and debris scattered both inside the building and outside in the parking lot.

The business was partitioned off with police caution tape, and no one was on scene when First Coast News arrived. We are working to learn whether anyone was hurt when the roof caved in.

Heavy flooding from Tuesday night's storms were also reported in the Westside area, with some viewers alerting First Coast News the Normandy Village neighborhood across from Walmart was flooded, including the end of LeBrun Drive and Rollo Road.

The First Coast Weather Team reported Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia and a Flash Flood Warning for parts of the area Tuesday night. The warning indicated 2-inch hail and 60 mile-per-hour wind gusts on the Westside.

First Coast Weather Watchers shared several photos and videos of the hail, heavy rain and lightning, mostly on Jacksonville's westside.

Some power outages were also reported, mostly on the Westside as well. As of 11:13 p.m. Tuesday, more than 2,000 JEA customers were without power.
