NOAA releases hurricane season outlook for Atlantic; predicts 9-15 named storms

Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30.

The NOAA released their 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook where they predict the number of named storms this hurricane season.

NOAA predicts a range of nine to 15 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher), with four to eight potentially becoming hurricanes (74 mph or higher).

They predict two to four major hurricanes (category 3, 4, or 5).

An average hurricane season produces 12 named storms.

First Coast News' Storm Experts Steve Fundaro and Tim Deegan recently sat down over a cup of coffee to talk about what this outlook means to the First Coast.
