JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Sometimes squirrels need saving too!
Three baby squirrels were rescued by a team of first responders during Hurricane Dorian.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office tweeted that an Emergency Road Access Team (ERAT) was removing trees on Cahoon Road during the storm when they found the baby squirrels.
One JSO officer took home two squirrels and a Jacksonville Fire and Rescue firefighter took home the third.
During Hurricane Dorian, ERAT teams were responsible for clearing trees and debris off roads help emergency vehicles pass.
