Woman dies after car crashes into tree in Mandarin

Video taken at the crash site shows it happened outside of Coopers Hawk Apartment Homes. Video also shows awhite vehicle with its hood crushed in.

A woman died Monday morning after the vehicle she was driving crashed into a tree in Mandarin, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police got the call about the crash at around 9:45 a.m. in the 10200 block of Old St. Augustine Road.

JSO said the woman was heading north when she left the roadway and crashed into a tree near a pole.

She was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

JSO said two lanes of northbound Old. St. Augustine Road in the 10200 block will be closed until around noon as police investigate the crash.

This crash is one of the three crashes that happened Monday morning. One of them, multiple people were transported to the hospital after a multi-vehicle wreck on Jefferson and Eighth Streets. The other, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Downtown Jacksonville while walking on the sidewalk.
